Etimologia

mwfaColuber e mwfqcolubra (quella femminile è la forma più antica, attestata fin da mwfgPlauto) indicavano in mwfwlatino un serpente velenoso. L'etimologia non è chiaracite-ref-2[2]. Secondo mwhaCarlo Fumagalli (1889), mwhqcoluber deriverebbe dalla trasformazione in mwhgkal della mwhwradice mwiakar e significherebbe "che striscia"cite-ref-3[3].
